করিম জেনারেল স্টোর, রংপুর শহর। মালিক আব্দুল করিম, দোকান চালাচ্ছেন ১৪ বছর। দুইজন কর্মচারী, দিনে গড়ে ১৮০টির মতো বিল।Karim General Store, Rangpur town. Abdul Karim has run it for 14 years: two staff, around 180 bills on an average day.

- দোকান বন্ধ করার সময় মোবাইলেই দেখে নেন আজ কত বিক্রি, কত লাভHe checks sales and profit on his phone as he closes the shutter
- ড্রয়ারের টাকা আর সিস্টেমের হিসাব রোজ মিলিয়ে বন্ধ করা হয়The drawer is counted against the system total every single day
- বাকির তালিকা দিনসহ থাকে, নির্দিষ্ট দিনে নিজে থেকেই SMS চলে যায়The credit list shows the age of each balance and the SMS goes out on its own
- মাল একটা পরিমাণে নামলেই তালিকায় ভেসে ওঠে, আগেই অর্ডার হয়Items surface in a list as soon as they drop to their minimum, so ordering happens earlier

আগে রাতে ২ ঘন্টা বসে হিসাব মেলাতাম। এখন দোকান বন্ধ করার সময় মোবাইলেই দেখে নিই আজ কত বিক্রি, কত লাভ। বাকির খাতাটা সবচেয়ে কাজে দিয়েছে, যাদের টাকা বছরখানেক ধরে আটকে ছিল, SMS যাওয়ার পর অনেকেই দিয়ে গেছে। কারও সাথে খারাপ ব্যবহারও করতে হয়নি।I used to sit with the ledger for two hours every night. Now I check the day's sales and profit on my phone while closing up. The credit ledger has been the biggest thing: money that had been stuck for a year came back after the reminders went out, and I never had to be rude to anybody.

- প্রতি মাসে হাজার হাজার টাকার ঔষধ ফেলে দিতে হতোThousands of taka of medicine went in the bin every month
- চেনা রোগীরা বাকি নিতেন, খাতায় লেখা হতো, কে কত দিয়েছে অনেক সময় গোলমাল হতোRegular patients bought on credit; who had paid what got muddled in the book

- মেয়াদ শেষের ৯০, ৬০ আর ৩০ দিন আগে তালিকা চলে আসেLists arrive 90, 60 and 30 days before expiry
- সময় থাকতেই কোম্পানিতে ফেরত যায়, নয়তো ছাড় দিয়ে বিক্রি করে দেওয়া হয়Stock goes back to the company in time, or is discounted and sold
- বাকির খাতা সিস্টেমে, নির্দিষ্ট দিনে SMS তাগাদাThe credit ledger is in the system with reminders on a set day
- জেনেরিক নাম লিখলেই সব ব্র্যান্ড চলে আসে, নতুন কর্মচারীও খুঁজে দিতে পারেType the generic name and every brand appears: new staff can find things too

ঔষধের মেয়াদ দেখা সবচেয়ে বড় ঝামেলা ছিল। এখন অ্যালার্ট আসে বলে প্রতি মাসে হাজার হাজার টাকার ঔষধ নষ্ট হওয়া বন্ধ হয়েছে। বাৎসরিক প্যাকেজ নিয়েছি, তিন মাসেই খরচ উঠে গেছে, শুধু মেয়াদোত্তীর্ণ ঔষধ কমেই।Watching expiry dates was the hardest part of this shop. The alerts stopped thousands of taka of medicine going to waste every month. I took the yearly plan and it had paid for itself in three months on reduced wastage alone.

- নেট গেলে আগের সফটওয়্যারে কিছুই করা যেত না, কাগজে বিল লিখতে হতোHis old software did nothing without internet; bills went onto paper
- পরে সেই কাগজের বিল আবার হাতে তুলতে গিয়ে ভুল হতোRe-entering those paper bills afterwards introduced mistakes
- ওয়ারেন্টি নিয়ে কাস্টমারের সাথে তর্ক হতো, রসিদ হারিয়ে ফেললে প্রমাণ থাকত নাWarranty arguments at the counter: a lost receipt meant no proof

- নেট না থাকলেও বিল হয়, প্রিন্ট বের হয়, স্টক কমেBilling, printing and stock all keep running with no connection
- লাইন ফিরলে জমে থাকা এন্ট্রি নিজে থেকেই সার্ভারে চলে যায়When the line returns, the queued entries upload by themselves
- IMEI বসালেই কেনার তারিখ আর ওয়ারেন্টির বাকি দিন স্ক্রিনেType the IMEI and the purchase date and remaining warranty appear
- প্রতিটি সেট আলাদা নম্বর ধরে হিসাব, স্টক গুনতে হয় নাEvery handset tracked by its own number, so stock counts are unnecessary

আমাদের এলাকায় প্রায়ই নেট চলে যায়। অন্য সফটওয়্যারে বিক্রি বন্ধ হয়ে যেত। দোকানসেবায় নেট ছাড়াই বিল হয়, পরে নিজেই আপলোড হয়ে যায়। আর IMEI দিয়ে ওয়ারেন্টি দেখতে পারি বলে কাস্টমারের সাথে ঝগড়া একদম বন্ধ, স্ক্রিন ঘুরিয়ে দেখিয়ে দিলেই হয়।The internet goes down here all the time. On other software selling simply stopped. In DokanSeba the bill goes through without a connection and uploads itself later. And because I can pull up the warranty by IMEI, the arguments have ended: I just turn the screen around.
তিনটা গল্পে যা একWhat the three have in common
তিনজনের ব্যবসা আলাদা, সমস্যাও আলাদা। কিন্তু একটা জায়গায় মিল, কেউই সফটওয়্যার শিখতে চাননি, তাঁরা চেয়েছিলেন সমস্যাটা মিটুক। তাই প্রথম দিনেই আমরা পুরো সফটওয়্যার শেখাতে বসিনি। যেটা সবচেয়ে বেশি জ্বালাচ্ছিল, শুধু সেটুকু চালু করে দিয়েছি, বাকিটা তাঁরা নিজে নিজেই ধরেছেন।Three different trades and three different problems. But one thing is the same: none of them wanted to learn software, they wanted a problem to stop. So we did not sit them down in front of the whole system on day one. We switched on the part that was hurting most, and they picked up the rest themselves.

তিনটা শাখা এক জায়গা থেকে দেখতে পারি। কোন শাখায় কত বিক্রি, কোন কর্মচারী কী করল, সব পরিষ্কার।I watch three branches from one place. Sales per branch, what each employee did: all of it is clear.
মাসে ৫০০ টাকা শুনে ভেবেছিলাম কম ফিচার দেবে। কিন্তু স্টক, বিল, রিপোর্ট সবই আছে।At 500 taka a month I assumed the features would be cut down. But stock, billing and reports are all there.
