বাইকটা ঢোকার সময়ই একটা জব খোলা হয়, কার বাইক, কী সমস্যার কথা বললেন সেটা তাঁর নিজের কথায়, আর কাজটা এখন কোন অবস্থায় আছে। কাজ এগোলে অবস্থা বদলে যায়, তাই সন্ধ্যায় কেউ জিজ্ঞেস করলে খুঁজতে হয় না।

একটা কথা পরিষ্কার করে বলি: আগে থেকে সময় বা বে বুক করার ব্যবস্থা এখানে নেই, বাইক এলে জব খোলা হয়, তার আগে নয়। ওটা আমরা বানাইনি এবং বানানোর পরিকল্পনাও নেই, তাই আগে থেকেই জেনে রাখুন।

মেনুতে “অগ্রিম বুকিং” লেখা একটা স্ক্রিন পাবেন, কিন্তু সেটা সময় বুক করার জন্য নয়, ওটা মালের বুকিং। স্টকে নেই এমন পার্টস কাস্টমার অগ্রিম দিয়ে বলে রাখলে সেই টাকা আর সেই মালটা তাঁর নামে ধরে রাখা হয়। নামটা কাছাকাছি, কাজটা আলাদা।

A job is opened as the bike comes in: whose it is, what the customer says is wrong in his own words, and where the work has got to. The stage moves as the work moves, so when somebody asks in the evening nobody has to go looking.

One thing stated plainly: there is no way to book a slot or a bay ahead of time. A job is opened when the bike arrives and not before. We have not built that and are not planning to, so it is better you know now.

You will find a screen called “Advance bookings” in the menu, but it does not book TIME: it books GOODS. A customer puts money down on a part you do not have in stock, and that money and that part are held in his name. The word is close; the job is not.

They do. A part fitted in the workshop goes onto the job, and the same quantity comes off the shop's stock: exactly as it would if it had been sold over the counter.

Labour sits on its own line rather than being folded into the price of the part. So the customer can see on the bill which half is goods and which is work, and at the end of the month you can see how much each half brought in.

Yes, and this works today. A litre, a litre and a half, 800 ml: what you pour is what goes on the bill, and the drum's stock comes down by exactly that. The sum does not sit waiting for the drum to finish.

So at the end of the month what should be left in the drum and what is actually left can be put side by side, instead of being guessed at.

Yes. Brake pads by model, tyres by size, engine oil by grade: each one carries its own stock while showing as a single name in the list. At the till you pick which one; you do not build a hundred separate products.

So you can say which model's pads have run out without walking to the shelf, and what to order how much of comes off the figures rather than off a list somebody wrote by hand.

ব্যাটারি বা টায়ার বিক্রির সময় তার ওয়ারেন্টির মেয়াদ বিলে আর তার নম্বরের সঙ্গে বসে যায়, ছয় মাস, এক বছর, যা আপনি ঠিক করবেন। কাস্টমার কার্ড হারিয়ে ফেললেও কবে বিক্রি হয়েছিল আর মেয়াদ কবে শেষ, সেটা খুঁজে বের করা যায়।

আর মেয়াদের বাইরে হলে যেভাবে বেশিরভাগ বিক্রি হয় (পুরানো ব্যাটারিটা জমা দিয়ে নতুন) সেটাও বসে: পুরানোটার দাম নতুন বিল থেকেই বাদ যায়, আলাদা করে হিসাব করতে হয় না।

When a battery or a tyre is sold, its warranty term is stamped onto the bill and onto that unit's own number: six months, a year, whatever you set. If the customer loses the card you can still find when it was sold and when the term runs out.

When a faulty one comes back, the whole of it is tracked: taking it from the customer, sending it on to the company, and following it until it comes back. Which one is stuck with whom is not something you have to hold in your head.

And out of warranty, the way most of them actually sell (the old battery handed in against the new one) is handled too: the old one\x27s value comes straight off the new bill instead of being worked out on the side.

Yes. Set a mechanic's rate once and every bill he brings works the commission out by itself: nobody does the sum standing at the counter, and it does not come out differently each time. A separate rate can be set per brand.

The customer's bill is unchanged by any of it: this money is the shop's own cost and it is recorded as one. What each man has run up and when he was paid sits in one place.

Not yet, and it is better said plainly. We have not built service reminders, and a bike does not yet have a service record of its own: what this particular machine came in for last time. Both are on the plan, but being on a plan and running in a shop are not the same thing.

What does exist: the customer's own ledger, every bill and every job under his name, and SMS to reach him, with the wording yours to write.
